Love Revolution in Rwanda, Africa

Patti and I have just returned from carrying the message of Jesus’ Commandment — “love one another as I have loved you” — to Rwanda. We did four Game Changer seminars for pastors and spouses in the eastern provinces and in the capital city of Kigali.

When I was writing Love Revolution 12 years ago, Rwanda came to my mind as a country that really needed to hear Jesus’ Commandment. But I never dreamed that I would actually carry the message there in person!

This small country was the scene of one of the most brutal genocides in recent history. Starting the morning of April 7, 1994 and continuing for the next 100 days, over one million fathers, mothers, children and babies were slaughtered in this small country in the heart of Africa.

During our three weeks in Rwanda, we were in the homes of survivors of this most unthinkable horror. Astonishingly, this happened in a country that claimed to be over 90% “christian.”

Religion without the One Commandment Jesus’ gave us failed them dramatically.

If I had ever wondered if the message of Jesus’ Commandment was needed on our planet, the doubt has been removed. While we need to know about God’s love for us, we as believers in Jesus Christ need to receive His love for us and then let the river of His love flow out to people that live all around us—people that live in our home, neighborhood, city, region and country.

The material blessings we enjoy in the western world are abundant, but so temporal. Ultimately, we will take none it with us at the end our earthly journey. Only what has been done in love will last. God’s love for us and our love for others is the treasure that is eternal.

Patti and I are passionately committed to following Jesus—trusting in Him and living a life of love just as He has loved us. I believe Christianity is most simply defined as those that have believed in Jesus Christ, embracing His New Covenant and New Commandment.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Luke 22:20 NIV

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35 NIV

Below you’ll find some of the photos we captured during our trip to Rwanda. Thank you for joining us in this mission by being “a love revolutionary”—a follower of Jesus Christ who is Lord of all!

Love and Blessings,

A Love Revolution in India

A huge “Thank you!” for your support of my mission to India. This opportunity to share Jesus’ Commandment exceeded my expectation in every way! I ministered in an urban setting through Chai 3:16 in Bangalore and in seminars for Serve India Ministries (SIM)—an organization that has targets the 638,000 villages in which 72% for the population of India live.

While there are over 6000 pastors in the SIM network, I taught a select group of leading pastors and trainers—half of them in the southern city of Coimbatore and half of them in the northern city of Delhi. They admitted that they were not excited about coming to training on “love” but by the time each seminar ended, they were so excited, exclaiming that this teaching about Jesus’ Commandment was new to them!

I was able to hear the personal stories of 20 pastors—many from Hindu backgrounds. Almost all of them shared accounts of miracles that brought them to faith in Jesus. They also told stories of how God had used physical healing of villagers to open the door for them to bring Jesus to very hostile hamlets. It’s like the book of ACTS is continuing to be written through the faithfulness of God and these humble servants.

Enjoy the pictures that follow my three weeks in this country of 1.34 billion people!

Tired of all the hate?

Tired of all the hate? Here’s an alternative—Love Revolution Now! On September 9 & 10, we launched a revolutionary movement of ordinary people—devoted to Jesus and to living a life of love, just as He has loved us!

This revolutionary movement has its roots in the New Commandment Jesus gave us—strategically introduced on the same evening he announced the New Covenant. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34 NIV)
